We thoroughly recommend Akira as a personal guide to Tokyo. He is friendly, engaging and has a great sense of humour and it feels as though you are discovering the city with a friend rather than a guide. Akira clearly loves Tokyo and he brings a personal touch to his explanations which give a great sense of what it is like to live in this huge and multi faceted city. We gave Akira some information about our interests beforehand, and he tailored a wonderful tour which included some well known places but more importantly some places which we would not have discovered were it not for him, and simply followed a guidebook. Guiding you and Rob was like guiding people who I met for the first time but known for many years. The weather was unpleasant that day and we had to change our itinerary, but something good happened that I found something in common between us when we started enjoying conversation at the coffee shop. After we talked enthusiastically about things we love such as Murakami, Beatles, Keb Mo, and etc, I started to have a feeling that it would be a fun day and I am so happy that the feeling was right. The rest of the 6 hours was like discovering the city with a friend rather than customers. Not only did she tailor make an itinerary that was outstanding covering everything we wanted to see and even more. The tour ran like clockwork. Her English is perfect. She organised for us to visit the old Tokyo village and a fire ceremony which was one of the highlights of our trip. Such a lovely lady, easy to talk to and unbelievable knowledgeable and responsive. She took tons of photos of my husband and myself which was a thoughtful added extra.
